Zestafoni-Chiatura Landslide

Project Information

CSE was invited by our Georgian partner, Caucasus Road Project, to conduct geological and geotechnical exploration along the 21-km Gomi–Sachkhere–Chiatura–Zestafoni highway. This nationally important road had long been threatened by recurring landslides and slope instabilities. Our team assessed three major and six minor landslides, carrying out detailed geological mapping, drilling, UAV terrain modeling, and stability analyses. Based on these investigations, we designed tailored solutions for more than nine landslide areas. The mitigation concepts combined proven methods—such as bored piles with prestressed DYWIDAG anchors—with innovative techniques like reinforced cement panels to address complex geological conditions. These designs ensure long-term slope stability, road safety, and reliable infrastructure for local communities and Travelers.
